About Put Me In The Story

A: Put Me In The Story is an innovative new personalized children’s book platform that creates highly personalized editions of nationally bestselling children’s books. Far beyond any reading experience, Put Me In The Story will transform and enhance story time by making your child the star of treasured children’s stories.

Put Me In The Story personalized books feature your child’s name throughout each bestselling story—a captivating and magical experience for any child. A personalized dedication page allows parents to easily personalize each book with their own photo.

A: There are currently two ways to create a personalized book using Put Me In The Story.

Personalized Printed Storybooks: Using the Put Me In The Story website, you can create and buy a personalized print edition of one of our national bestselling storybooks for your child. Within a few simple steps, you can create your own personal dedication, upload a photo, and have the book sent to you to enjoy reading together with your child.

Interactive, Personalized Digital Editions: Using the Put Me In The Story iPad app, you can create your own interactive, personalized book that you and your child can enjoy together.

A: Whether you are using Put Me In The Story on our website or on the iPad app, you have access to the same great bestselling stories. The website allows you to create and order a personalized print edition of your story, while the iPad app allows you to quickly create an interactive, digital edition of each book.

A: The intended age range varies for each of our books, but generally our personalized picture books make great gifts for children ages 3 and up. Your can find the specific age for each book at the bottom of its book detail page in the personalized Books section.

Personalizing the Books

A: Each book can be personalized with your child’s first name, containing up to 14 characters.

A: Each book can be personalized with a “from” name containing up to 14 characters.

A: Your personalized dedication can contain up to 100 characters, including spaces, and may be no longer than 7 lines long. Your dedication will appear in the book exactly as it is typed on the website.

A: No. The profile you create for your child is specific to each book. So if you want to order two different books for your child at the same time, you will need to create two different profiles.

Using the Put Me In The Story iPad App

A: The Put Me In The Story app comes with one free book, The Night Night Book by Marianne Richmond, located in the “My Books” section of the app home screen. To get started, simply tap The Night Night Book and choose an option to “Put Me In The Story” to create your own personalized book starring your child, “Read to Me” to have the original book read aloud, or “Read by Myself” to read the original book on your own.

A: Additional books can be purchased in the “Bookstore” section on the app home screen. Tap a book cover to view more information on the book (i.e. description, price, and a free preview) or buy the book.

Books are purchased via in-app purchase from iTunes. When you tap the “Buy Now” button a dialog box will open displaying the book name and price. Confirm your purchase by tapping “OK.”

A: You will need the following items:

iPad — For iPads with a camera, you can take a picture and use the photo directly when choosing the Put Me In The Story option. For all iPads, you have the option to select a photo from your photo gallery.
iTunes Store account — You’ll need an iTunes Store username and password to purchase books via in-app purchase.
Internet connection — To purchase and download books via in-app purchase you will need a working Internet connection.

A: If you want to go forward in the story, tap the arrow button in the lower right corner of the screen.

If you want to go backward in the story, tap the arrow button in the lower left corner of the screen.

A: On the home screen, tap the book cover. Slide the sound switch to on/off found on the lower right corner of the screen.

A: On the home screen, tap the “Features” icon found on the right side of the screen. Tap “My Books.” Tap the “RESTORE” button. Your books will be downloaded.

A: There are 2 ways to create a child profile:

On the home screen, tap the book cover. Tap the “Start the story!” button. Enter your child’s name and who the book is from, and choose a gender and a photo, the tap “NEXT.”
On the home screen, tap the “Features” icon found on the right side of the screen. Tap “Child Profiles.” Tap “Add Child.” Enter your child’s name and who the book is from, and choose a gender and a photo, then tap “NEXT.”

A: To make your photo bigger, “pinch” two fingers onto the photo and then “spread” them apart. To make a photo smaller, just “spread” two fingers apart on the photo and then “pinch” them together.

Once a child profile has been created and saved, the photo cannot be resized or edited. If you would like to resize or edit a photo, please create a new child profile.

A: On the home screen, tap the “Features” icon found on the right side of the screen. Tap “Child Profiles.” Tap “Delete” under the child profile.

Uploading Pictures To Our Website

A: We accept images with the following extensions: .jpg and .png formats. While we will also accept .tif and .gif formats, please make sure the quality of your image is high enough for printing on a product. Note that .gif images do not typically reproduce as well as other formats because of color compression. We do not recommend .tif files due to their large size.

A: We can only accept images that are in RGB format.

A: Please try to use the best-quality image possible. The recommended settings are 2000 pixels and 300 dpi . If your image is below the minimum resolution/size requirements, do not simply increase the size in your editing software. You must either rescan the image or use a higher-quality image.

Files must be 2MB or smaller. The upload time will depend on the file size and your Internet connection speed. Please be patient when uploading a large image.

A: If you upload an image that is too small or does not meet our quality requirements, we will notify you that the image quality is low and ask you to choose a different image.

A: Your image will be reproduced as it appears. In some cases, we may crop the image for size to fit the product you order.

(We reserve the right to refuse reproduction of submitted photos at our discretion should they be licensed, copyrighted, or deemed inappropriate for language, content, or material. Please see our Terms of Use for additional questions.)

A: When scanning in photographs, please use a resolution of 300 dpi or more. When taking digital images, set your camera at the highest possible resolution. You can always reduce the resolution later. Low-resolution images cannot be increased without loss of image quality.

Close-ups and images with bright colors will produce the best results.

Ordering & Account Information:

A: Yes! You can order more than one book at a time. If you are ordering more than one book for the same child, please make sure you create a new profile for each book. If you reuse the profile, then your dedication will be the same in each book.

A: We currently offer 4 different order and delivery methods in an effort to give you options for receiving your book at the price and time you want. Please see our order and delivery information for more details.

A: Your credit card will be charged when you place your order as we start the creation of your personalized book as soon as the order is submitted.

A: No, orders cannot be canceled. In order to get your personalized book to you as soon as we can, we start creating your book as soon as the order has been submitted.

A: No. At this time, we can only ship an order to a single shipping address. If you want to send books to different addresses, you will need to create a separate order for each address.

A: Yes. We collect and process your credit card information over a secure Internet connection. Additionally, we do not store any of your credit card information and do not keep record of it once we have processed your order.

A: You can enter your promotion or coupon code in two places. First, on our view cart screen you can enter your promotion code into the Promo Code field. You can also add it during the checkout process in the Promo Code field of the Order Summary.

A: No. You can only use one promotion code at a time.

A: No. We only accept payment via credit card (Mastercard, VISA, and American Express). Please refer to our Terms of Use for the full details on our Payments.

A: No, we do not offer gift certificates at this time.

A: We want your experience with Put Me In The Story to be perfect, so we guarantee that your order will arrive error-free, with beautiful quality, and that the recipient will love it.

If we introduce an error in the spelling of your child’s name or your personal dedication, we will remake the book for free. If you make an error when ordering the book and inform us after it has been created or shipped, we ask that you pay only the delivery fee for the new book.
