Celebrating your first Christmas together doesn't necessarily mean you have a new baby in the family!
Whether you're a stepmom or grandparent, whether you recently adopted a child or brought home a new "fur baby," we've listed some fun ideas for how you can celebrate and commemorate your first Christmas together as a family!
1 – Take your first family Christmas photo!
Gather in your holiday best or take a picture out in the snow! Start a tradition where every year you gather your family, snap a photo, and put it in a festive frame! Set your photos out as decorations each holiday to see how your family grows over the years!
2 – Make an ornament!
There are so many cool ways to create your own ornaments! Use paint, glitter, glue, and other graft supplies to decorate plastic and wood ornaments. Have everyone include their name and the year to remember the fun you had each year as you trim your tree!
Not much of a crafter? We can help! If you order 'Twas the Night Before Christmas on Sesame Street, Santa Is Coming to My House, or 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, your little one will have their very own personalized ornament in the back of the book! Just cut it out, fold it in half, loop it on somestring and it's ready for your tree!
We also have ready-made personalized ornaments for girl's first Christmas, boy's first Christmas, and an Elmo personalized ornament!
3 – Buy or craft personalized stockings
Crafting project:
Buy blank stockings and write each family member's name on their stocking. Commemorate each year with a painted hand print. Once it dries, write the year over each hand print!

4 – DIY a Santa cookie plate
Create a plate for Santa's cookies on Christmas Eve! What you need:
- Plain plastic plate
- Permanent marker/paint pens
- Brown and red paint
Use the brown paint to create thumb prints for each family member, paint on some ears and a red nose, then once the paint dries, draw antlers and eyes with the permanent marker.
Use the permanent marker to write "Cookies for Santa" at the top of the plate and voila! You have the perfect cookie plate that represents your family!
5 – Create a personalized book every year!
For baby's first Christmas… Create a book that shows how special their first night really was! On The Night You Were Born is a classic story, and when you personalize it with the very first photo you took of your little one, it becomes a precious keepsake!
Personalize a book from Put Me In The Story with your little one's name, photo, and birthdate for the perfect holiday present. Watch how your kids grow year to year with a personalized book every holiday!
Happy Holidays!
